SDS continues its series of predicting the game one starters for all 14 SEC teams. Next up, the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Alabama opens the season in Atlanta against West Virginia, and here is our projected starting lineup:
Offense | Defense | ||
QB | Jacob Coker | DE | Jarran Reed |
RB | TJ Yeldon | DT | Brandon Ivory |
WR | Amari Cooper | DE | A’Shawn Robinson |
WR | DeAndrew White | OLB | Denzel Devall |
WR | Christion Jones | MLB | Trey DePriest |
TE | OJ Howard | MLB | Reggie Ragland |
LT | Cameron Robinson | OLB | Dillon Lee |
LG | Arie Kouandjio | CB | Eddie Jackson |
C | Ryan Kelly | CB | Tony Brown |
RG | Alphonse Taylor | SS | Geno Smith |
RT | Austin Shepherd | FS | Landon Collins |
Takeaways:
- The QB battle between Jacob Coker and Blake Sims remains fluid, and either player could nab the starting spot, as several have indicated that Coker hasn’t won the job outright in fall camp yet. I still think Coker wins the job prior to the start of the season.
- Right guard continues to be a battle. Alphonse Taylor is currently running with the first team, and by all indications, Taylor should be the game one starter.
- Corner remains a hot topic as well, and the coaching staff is hopeful Eddie Jackson will be ready prior to the start of the season. If he’s not ready, Bradley Sylve could be the game one starter.
Predicted starters for every SEC team’s first game:
- Alabama Crimson Tide
- Arkansas Razorbacks

- Georgia Bulldogs
- Kentucky Wildcats

- Mississippi State Bulldogs
- Missouri Tigers
- Ole Miss Rebels
- South Carolina Gamecocks
