Former Alabama offensive tackle Cyrus Kouandjio is finally a U.S. citizen.

He completed the process Thursday in a U.S. District Courthouse in Buffalo, where he plays for the Bills. Kouandjio and his brother Arie, who became a U.S. citizen in September, came to the United States with their family 19 years ago.

“This is such a great day,” Kouandjio told WKBW-TV. “I’ll never forget this courtroom. I’ll never forget this city. I love Buffalo. It’s my home. I came from a really low status in a different world and to be here today standing before you guys, I just thank God every day.”

After addressing the courtroom, Kouandjio exclaimed, “Go Bills and Roll Tide.”

The offensive tackle played for the Crimson Tide from 2011-2013, earning All-American recognition as a junior. Buffalo selected him in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft, and he has started two games for the Bills this season.
