Alabama senior defensive back Geno Smith was arrested for DUI Saturday morning, according to the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.
This is Smith’s second DUI offense, as he was arrested in August of 2013.
Smith racked up 56 tackles last season, and he’s a key cog for Nick Saban in the rebuilding of his defensive secondary for 2015. Smith is expected to replace the departed Nick Perry at free safety, and he’s Alabama’s most experienced player in the secondary.
We’ll provide more details as they are released.
Update (Mar. 28, 3:22 p.m. ET): Zenitz has reported that Smith was absent from Alabama’s spring practice session on Saturday and that he is indeed still being held in jail on bond.
