Alabama held its first spring practice on Friday, and when it comes to the quarterback situation, the order was to be expected.

According to Charlie Potter of 247Sports, junior Cooper Bateman threw first. Sophomore Blake Barnett threw next with a group of wideouts while David Cornwell did the same with another group with Jalen Hurts behind him.

The battle for the starting job should continue through the fall, and Barnett is expected to be a big part of the competition.

Bateman only started one game last season, and that came against Ole Miss on Sept. 19. Bateman completed 11 of 14 passes for 87 yards and an interception.

Jake Coker ended up getting most of the action in that game, going 21-for-45 for 201 yards, 3 TDs and 2 INTs.
