Better luck this time around? Toomer’s Corner being renovated this weekend

It’s been a rough few years for the Toomer’s Oaks on Auburn’s campus.
After the originals were poisoned by Harvey Updike in 2010, the trees were replaced on Feb. 14, 2015. However, last year, one of the oaks was set on fire after Auburn’s win over LSU.
According to OANow.com, though, Toomer’s Corner will get a big makeover this weekend, as both oaks are scheduled to be replaced.
Even if it takes away from the festive atmosphere after big victories, the security presence around the iconic trees probably needs to be upgraded in the future.
Otherwise, if everything goes back to the way it was, there’s a chance someone else could once again cause damage to the Auburn campus.
