Birmingham Bowl fallout: Memphis players may have spat on Auburn players

Published:
By now, most of have seen the actions of the Memphis player that decided he needed to tackle a member of the Auburn equipment staff in an effort to steal a football after the game.
But Auburn DL Maurice Swain took to Twitter to say that this was just the tip of the iceberg for Memphis’ behavior during a 31-10 Auburn win at the Birmingham Bowl on Wednesday:

Football is a nasty game, especially in the trenches, so this probably happens more than fans might think.
And not having video evidence of these alleged actions will make it hard for any of the allegations to stick.
However, if that’s happening in conjunction with the actions that were recorded on camera, one has to wonder if Memphis may be passed over for a team with a similar resume the next time it is up for a bowl opportunity.
It’s not the type of reputation that a team wants to carry with it, and new Tigers head coach Mike Norvell is likely to lay down the law now that he’s in charge.
