‘Legatron’ sets Auburn single-season record with field goal in first quarter
Daniel Carlson, or “Legatron” as Auburn calls him, has rewritten the Auburn record books.
The Lou Groza Award finalist made his 23rd field goal of the season — a 20-yarder in the first quarter against Memphis — that gives him the school single-season record for most field goals made.
Carlson came into the day tied with Scott Etheridge in 1992. He holds two of the top four totals in Tigers history.
PLAYER | FIELD GOALS MADE | SEASON |
---|---|---|
1. Daniel Carlson | 23 | 2015 |
2. Scott Etheridge | 22 | 22 |
3. John Vaughn | 20 | 2006 |
4. Daniel Carlson | 18 | 2014 |

Carlson is also one of just two kickers nationally with four field goals of at least 51 yards this season. His 56-yard boom against Louisville is the 5th-longest for any kicker this season, and it’s the longest by an Auburn kicker since 2003.
Meanwhile, his four 50-yarders are a school record.
