The Matchup: LSU (4-1) at No. 5 Auburn (4-0)
The Venue: Jordan-Hare Stadium
The Kick: 7:00 p.m. ET
TV: ESPN

Series Record: LSU 27-20-1

Last Meeting: The Tigers of LSU used a 21-point first half to beat Auburn for the third time in a row last season in Baton Rouge, 35-21.

Coaches: Les Miles (99-25), Gus Malzahn (16-2)

Last game (Auburn): Auburn handled Louisiana Tech 45-17. The offense sputtered a bit in the first half but made plays late to put the game away comfortably.

Last game (LSU): Brandon Harris replaced Anthony Jennings en route to a 63-7 blowout of the Aggies of New Mexico State.

Auburn wins if: The offense returns to form. It has yet to be real sharp, a la the last eight games of last season. Nick Marshall and Cameron Artis-Payne need to have big games, and Sammie Coates has to get healthy and get involved. Duke Williams has been the Tigers’ best threat outside.

LSU wins if: The run defense can slow down the Auburn offense. Gus Malzahn’s offense is averaging 260 yards per game and stopping the run has been the weakness of John Chavis’ unit. If Auburn eclipses that mark, LSU has no shot.

What it means if Auburn wins: Another pesky hurdle will be climbed. LSU has had Auburn’s number in recent years, and Auburn faces six top 25 teams in its final eight games. It needs to get off to a quick start.

What it means if LSU wins: The SEC West would be in flux and LSU would throw its hat in the ring as a contender in the division.
