Published:

The Memphis player who got into a scuffle with an Auburn ball boy and ran away with a stolen football following Wednesday’s Birmingham Bowl was removed from the Memphis football program after the incident.

The Tigers’ athletic communications staff released an official statement shortly thereafter, which included personal apologies from Memphis athletics director Tom Bowen:

While that doesn’t erase what happened, it is good to see the university was quick to take accountability and exercised good judgment in removing the player and issuing public apologies.
