Despite the fact that Abby Lutzenkirchen chose Alabama as the school to continue her soccer career, her biggest fan attended Auburn.

Former Auburn Tiger tight end Philip Lutzenkirchen might have given her sister a lot of ribbing because of her college choice but supported her 100 percent.

When the Alabama women’s soccer team opens their season against Kennesaw State on Friday, Abby Lutzenkirchen, a defender for the Crimson Tide, will be showing her own support for her now deceased brother.

Abby will be wearing No. 43, the same number Philip wore while playing at Auburn. Her old number was 33.

Lutzenkirchen died in a single-car accident on June 30.

Auburn plans to do something during the upcoming football season to honor the beloved tight end but hasn’t announced what yet.

Worked in online, print, TV and radio. Bobby Valentine once wore a pair of my socks for 8 hours. In an awkward exchange, he handed them back to me to which they were immediately deposited in a trash can.
