The Florida Gators have lost a receiver to transfer, as redshirt sophomore Ryan Sousa announced his intentions to leave the school via his Twitter account:
Alright UF It was fun but now it's time to move on with my career… Miss all y'all boys @kiss_a_baby9 @Sharpe_Theory @dc_wilson954
— Ryan Sousa (@TheSecondCommin) May 9, 2016
The players tagged in the receiver’s tweet are receiver C.J. Worton, offensive tackle David Sharpe and cornerback Quincy Wilson.
After redshirting in 2014 and not recording any statistics in 2015, Sousa likely saw his chances of earning playing time in the future as slim considering the Gators signed five receivers in the offseason. Early enrollees Freddie Swain, Joshua Hammond and Dre Massey are already on campus with Tyrie Cleveland and Rick Wells set to arrive this summer.
Following Sousa’s departure, Florida will have 12 receivers on the current roster, which does not account for the likely additions of Cleveland and Wells.
