Florida quarterback Will Grier filed an appeal to the NCAA on Wednesday in an effort to shorten his one-year suspension for testing positive for a performance-enhancing substance in October.

First reported by Gator Country, Grier, who will be represented by Morgan & Morgan out of Orlando, says he had no knowledge the over-the-counter supplement he took was on the NCAA’s no-no list.

Grier apologized to Gator Nation in October during a teary-eyed appearance inside Florida’s football facility. Jim McElwain acknowledged that afternoon the Gators would appeal.

From the date of the positive test, Grier had 45 days to appeal.
