Along with casual college football fans, NFL scouts have been incredibly impressed by LSU QB Joe Burrow, as he put on a historic season, won the Heisman Trophy and the national championship, and rocketed up NFL Draft boards.

A former scout, Daniel Jeremiah, visited the Rich Eisen Show to discuss Burrow’s NFL prospects from a scout’s perspective. Eisen asked him if Burrow’s season was the best quarterback season Jeremiah has ever seen.

“I kept waiting for a bad game, Rich, and it never happened,” Jeremiah said, and later added that Chase Young, the Ohio State defensive end, would be No. 1 on his NFL Draft board, and Burrow No. 2. “Yeah, I mean 60 touchdowns, how do you argue against it. I’ve never seen anything like that.”

Jeremiah shared that if there is one knock on Burrow, it’s that he doesn’t have a “huge arm.” But he quickly dispatched measurables as a knock against any player. He then ticked off some of the best players of all time, including Drew Brees, Emmitt Smith and Jerry Rice as not being the biggest, strongest or fastest player at their respective position.

Jeremiah then relayed an interesting connection. Kevin Faulk, a former New England Patriots player, is the Director of Player Development at LSU.

“Kevin Faulk has told every scout that rolls through there that Joe (Burrow) is Tom Brady,” Jeremiah said.
