LSU mascot has ‘radiation burn’ following cancer treatment

It’s been a rough summer for Mike VI, LSU’s live tiger mascot.
From being diagnosed with spindle cell sarcoma to beginning cancer treatments at the Mary Bird Perkins-Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Center, Mike has been fighting to stay alive.
His handlers at the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine said on Facebook that Mike had some slight discomfort following his latest treatment:
Though the cancer is terminal and even the most optimistic expectations say Mike has less than two years to live, he’ll continue undergoing treatment to make his remaining time as comfortable as possible.
And, despite his radiation burn and hair loss, Mike seems to be in good spirits. Yesterday, his handlers shared a photo of him enjoying a Friday morning nap:
