Missouri’s pool of candidates to replace coach Gary Pinkel seems to be dwindling, and fast.

Earlier today, it was reported that Memphis coach Justin Fuente will succeed Frank Beamer at Virginia Tech. Now, Toledo coach Matt Campbell also could be off the market.

Campbell was reportedly a candidate to replace Pinkel, but he’s “headed toward an agreement” with Iowa State, USA Today’s Dan Wolken reported. The deal isn’t done, but Campbell is Iowa State’s top option. The Rockets are 9-2 this season under Campbell, 35, who’s in his fourth season with the MAC school.

Missouri’s last coaching hire was also made from plucking one away from Toledo, and that was Pinkel back in 2001.

Pinkel announed earlier this month that he will resign at the end of the season due to health issues.
