Bama fan expresses sincere thanks to Derrick Henry and impact he’s had on son
Sometimes the things that famous athletes say can come off as cliche because we hear some of the same things all the time.
That’s until you realize how big of a role model some athletes are, and the type of impact they can make.
Plus, it’s impossible to interpret “hard work” as cliche when you’re talking about Alabama running back Derrick Henry, who won the Heisman Trophy after a hefty workload that saw him carry the ball 339 times for 1,986 yards and 23 touchdowns.
You simply don’t set the SEC single-season rushing record and score a touchdown in every single game without hard work.
Henry emphasized the importance of hard work to kids during his acceptance speech for the Heisman, and his message was taken to heart.
Henry screenshotted and posted a message he received on Facebook and tweeted it out on Wednesday night. It was from an Alabama fan, who was touched by the positive influence Henry has had on her 7-year-old son “Fitz.”
And that, in turn, obviously had an impact on Henry.
