Beloved former Texas high school coach dies during Hurricane Harvey rescue

Hurricane Harvey has been wreaking havoc in Texas since Friday evening, and it was reported yesterday that the storm has claimed the life of former Texas high school football coach Ruben Jordan.
Jordan coached at Clear Creek High School, and Jordan James with 247Sports reported Jordan was helping with rescue efforts of those affected by the storm when he went missing.
Retired high school football coach Ruben Jordan, who spent over two decades at Clear Creek High School (League City, Texas), has died after he went missing Saturday morning. He was last seen helping rescue people after Hurricane Harvey hit the state, according to his family and friends.
The Jordan family released the following statement through the school:
With heavy hearts, we would like to announce to all of our FB friends and family that the passing of Ruben C. Jordan ( Coach Jordan ) has been confirmed by the Friendswood Police Department. Our family would like to extend our sincere appreciation and thanks for the effort, support and prayers we received while trying to locate him. At this time we ask for your continued support, prayers and respect as we grieve and work towards making arrangements to lay him to rest. Words can’t begin to explain how grateful we are to be a part of such a strong, supportive and loving network of friends and family. We’ll be sure to keep everyone informed once arrangements have been made and finalize.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Jordan family and all those affected by the storm.
