Filthy rich: How much money every 2019 SEC first-round draft pick will make
Nine former SEC players saw their dreams come true in Thursday night’s NFL Draft, and they are now very rich young men.
Numbers-wise, it wasn’t as dominating as most folks thought for the conference, but it still had two more draft picks than every other conference. The ACC and Big Ten both finished with seven drafted players.
Every year, the NFL sets a “total rookie compensation pool” that forms what each draft pick can earn based on calculations tied to the salary cap.
Ex-Oklahoma and Heisman-winning QB Kyler Murray was the No. 1 pick, and the total projected value of his four-year contract is north of $35 million. His signing bonus alone is projected to be $23.5 million.
Former Alabama star Quinnen Williams was picked third overall by the New York Jets. Williams is set to have an estimated $21.6 million signing bonus and a contract value of nearly $32.5 million over four years.
Below is a look at the projected total contract value and signing bonus of every former SEC player (and Murray for reference-sake) in the draft, according to Spotrac.com:
