In a bit of a surprise, the Football Writers Association of America’s 71st All-America selections featured more selections from the Big Ten Conference than any other, with the Southeastern Conference tied for second with the Pac-12.

The breakdown, as announced on SiriusXM Radio’s “College Football Nation” on Wednesday evening was: Big Ten (7), Pac-12 (6), SEC (6), Big 12 (4) Atlantic Coast (2) and Mountain West (1).

The SEC had five first-team selections, but just one one the second team.

Florida State placed one player on the first team and four on the second team to lead all schools with a combined five.

This was just the second season in the modern era (post-1950) that the FWAA named a second team.
