We are certainly living in an interesting era of college football. Healthy players are sitting out bowl games, players transfer more frequently than ever and now we have a rehabbing player that could be key to his team’s potential national championship hopes deciding to leave school to focus on the upcoming NFL draft.

Ohio State announced on Tuesday that Nick Bosa plans to leave school in order to train for the NFL. Bosa is projected to be among the top selections in the upcoming draft. Bosa was injured in the TCU game, back on Sept. 20. Many thought he would be back before the season ended but those hopes are now gone, as Bosa is moving on to the next phase of his career.

Bosa’s decision was first reported by Tim May of The Columbus Dispatch.

It’s an interesting one on many levels. Bosa will likely be worth millions of dollars this spring and could put his value in jeopardy by rushing his return to the field or by further injury even if he came back on schedule. On the flip side, some will argue the outstanding Buckeye defender is turning his back on his team at the midseason mark.

It’s a dilemma very few will ever be able to relate to but that won’t stop many from discussing it at length in the coming days and weeks.
