Video: Defense scores on Vols’ double-reverse fail

The Tennessee Volunteers were forced to use an offense vs. defense format during Saturday’s spring game in lieu of a traditional split-squad scrimmage due to injury concerns throughout the roster.

That didn’t stop the defense from scoring a touchdown for the home fans.

The Vols’ offense got tricky late in the second quarter, running a double-reverse to try and catch the defense off guard. Instead, star cornerback Cam Sutton, tracking wideout Pig Howard in the backfield, broke up the final lateral on the play intended for Howard, snagged the ball out of the air and ran it back for a touchdown. It seems even when he’s pursuing ball-carriers in the backfield, Sutton is still a cornerback at heart when the ball is loose.

Check out the bizarre play above.
