The injuries are still piling up for Tennessee.

Volunteers coach Butch Jones on Monday confirmed an earlier report that sophomore defensive tackle Shy Tuttle would miss the remainder of the season with a right leg injury he sustained in the team’s 24-21 loss at South Carolina last Saturday. 247Sports reported Sunday that Tuttle had damaged his MCL and possibly fractured a bone in his knee.

He’s the newest addition to a long list of players Tennessee has lost to injury this season, most of them on defense. Tuttle is now the third defensive tackle to be lost for the season, joining Kahlil McKenzie (torn pectoral) and Danny O’Brien (dismissed from the team).

Thankfully for the Vols, they’ll get a break from their rugged schedule when FCS Tennessee Tech visits Knoxville this weekend.
