In newspaper parlance, it’s called 1A.

Most of the country’s newspapers reserve that space for local politics, national headlines and major advertisers.

In the South — especially in Alabama — when big football games take place, often the Tide or Tigers can steal some of that real estate.

Sometimes even “above the fold.” Alabama’s 30-16 win against previously-unbeaten LSU apparently qualifies.
