Alabama has received a transfer pledge from former Miami wide receiver Isaiah Horton.
The 6-foot-4, 205-pound wideout started 6 games for the Hurricanes over the last 2 seasons and will arrive in Tuscaloosa with 2 years of eligibility remaining. With the Crimson Tide’s depth at receiver taking a hit, Horton became a major target for coach Kalen DeBoer and the staff. He could step in right away and make an impact on the offense.
Out of high school in the 2022 class, Horton was a 4-star recruit in the industry-generated 247 Composite. He had an offer from Alabama but chose to sign with Miami.
Horton redshirted during his first season in 2022. He started twice and appeared in 13 games in 2023 but recorded only 13 receptions for 168 yards and a score.
This season, he was much more involved in the offense. Horton appeared in all 12 games while making 56 receptions for 616 yards and 5 touchdowns. Only Xavier Restrepo had more receptions for the ‘Canes this year.
Horton was not a big YAC guy this year, averaging just 3.6 yards after the catch per reception. He was a reliable option when quarterback Cam Ward threw it up, though. Horton had 7 contested catches on 12 contested targets, per PFF. That would have tied Ryan Williams for the Alabama team lead this season.
A top-line receiver group of Horton, Williams, and Germie Bernard would certainly be a promising group next season. Horton becomes the fourth known transfer pledge for Alabama so far.
Derek Peterson does a bit of everything, not unlike Taysom Hill. He has covered Oklahoma, Nebraska, the Pac-12, and now delivers CFB-wide content.
