One of the top running backs in the 2020 recruiting class, Roydell Williams saw brief action in the Alabama backfield as a true freshman before playing in 7 games as a sophomore. He received 48 carries and ended up with 284 yards and a touchdown.
However, against New Mexico State, his season came to an end thanks to a knee injury. He returned to the lineup against Utah State on Sept. 3 and has carried the ball 20 times for 140 yards. While a knee injury is always tough to recover from, Williams is hanging in well.
“One day it’s sore, one day it feels good. I learned to keep my composure and go on about how it feels and work on it,” he said, according to Touchdown Alabama magazine.
Williams expressed appreciation for the staff in helping him get back on the field this season.
“The training staff has done a great job. I’ve gotten my speed back up. I can cut again and I am comfortable cutting on this leg. I have been very good out there. I have been getting comfortable with the offense, so it has been good,” he said.
