Alabama added Ryan Grubb to its coaching staff on Sunday, raising questions about what that meant for other assistants, as there was no immediate opening.
While Grubb will be the new offensive coordinator, ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg reports that 2024 OC Nick Sheridan is set to remain on Kalen DeBoer’s staff. JaMarcus Shephard, who held the title of co-offensive coordinator, is also set to be part of the 2025 staff, per Rittenberg.
Nick Sheridan, who served as Alabama's primary offensive coordinator in 2024, and co-OC JaMarcus Shephard will remain with the Tide staff, according to sources. Both worked with Grubb at Washington in 2022 and 2023. https://t.co/Q6eIznB7g0

Titles and responsibilities for the Alabama coaching staff have yet to be revealed.
Sheridan followed DeBoer from Washington, where he coached tight ends for 2 seasons. He was set to do the same at Alabama before Grubb accepted the offer to join the Seattle Seahawks. Bryan Ellis coached tight ends for Alabama in 2024.
Shephard is another Washington assistant who followed DeBoer to Tuscaloosa. He holds the titles of assistant head coach, co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach. Shephard had similar responsibilities with the Huskies, where his title was passing game coordinator instead of co-OC.
It is worth noting that NCAA rules changed in 2024 to allow analysts to be more involved in on-field instruction. There are still limits to how many assistant coaches can participate in off-campus recruiting.
