Alabama players returned to the practice field Thursday for the first time since the spring. Among them was offensive lineman Alphonse Taylor, despite being “indefinitely suspended” following a July DUI arrest.

It was recently reported that Taylor had 0.0 BAC after his arrest. The senior was one of four players with off-the-field issues this offseason who participated in practice, along with Cam Robinson Laurence Jones and Tony Brown.

Richie Petitbon (knee) and Maurice Smith were the only players missing from the first practice session. Smith, who announced his intention to transfer earlier this week, was spotted at Alabama’s facility before practice.

Rashaan Evans continued to practice with the inside linebackers and took reps behind Reuben Foster and Shaun Haimlton. Five-star prospect Lyndell Wilson also practiced with the inside linebackers, despite playing outside linebacker in high school.

Cooper Bateman led the quarterback line with David Cornwell, Blake Barnett and Jalen Hurts each taking reps behind him. Bateman and Cornwell each led two lines when the groups broke up, with Barnett and Hurts lined up behind them respectively.

Running back Bo Scarbrough ended practice prior to the end of the media viewing portion. Damien Harris and Derrick Gore led the group of backs in his absence. B.J. Emmons and Joshua Jacobs were also given reps as well.
