One more player will join Alabama’s QB room in 2018, and he reports to campus on Saturday.

The Tide flipped 3-star Arkansas State QB commit Layne Hatcher Friday. The Little Rock, Arkansas, native attended Pulaski Academy and is rated as the nation’s No. 53 dual-threat QB, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Hatcher was offered a scholarship from Alabama after originally being offered a preferred walk-on spot. Arkansas State was offering Hatcher a grayshirt.

“For awhile, they (Alabama) wanted me to come down as a preferred walkon and after that didn’t work out, today I got to talk to Coach Enos and Coach Saban and they informed me about what’s going to happen,” Hatcher told ArkansasOnline.com. “So I’m going to tomorrow.”

Hatcher threw for a state record 15,483 yards and 185 TDs in four high school seasons. As a senior, he threw for 66 TDs and 11 INTs.

He announced the news via his Twitter account:
