College GameDay in Tuscaloosa: Alabama’s complete history with College GameDay
College GameDay will live from Tuscaloosa on Saturday morning in advance of Alabama’s top 5 matchup with Georgia.
This will be the 19th time Alabama’s campus has hosted ESPN’s flagship pregame show. That’s the second-most all-time for any campus, behind only Ohio State (23). This will also be Alabama’s 59th time to be involved in a game that’s highlighted by College GameDay, which is tied with the Buckeyes for the most all-time.
Here’s a look at the previous results of the game for each time that GameDay has been in Tuscaloosa:
Alabama is 9-9 all-time when hosting College GameDay. However, that record has improved greatly in recent years. The Crimson Tide started out 1-6 in their first 7 games with the College GameDay crew on campus.
Kalen DeBoer also has a chance to make history on Saturday. With a win, he would become just the second coach in Alabama football history to get a win with College GameDay on campus. Alabama went 0-4 in its first 4 attempts prior to the start of the Nick Saban era.
This will be the third time for Alabama to have College GameDay on campus with Georgia coming into town. The Bulldogs won in overtime in 2007 (their most recent win in Tuscaloosa) but fell to Alabama at Bryant-Denny Stadium back in 2020.
LSU is by far Alabama’s most common opponent when GameDay makes the trip to Tuscaloosa. Lee Corso and co. have been on site for 6 meetings all-time between the Crimson Tide and Tigers. Alabama is 3-3 all-time in those contests.
Alabama has hosted College GameDay from outside of Tuscaloosa once — way back in 1995. That year, GameDay was on site for Alabama’s matchup against Tennessee. The Crimson Tide lost to Peyton Manning and the Vols that day, 41-14. Counting that game, this will be the 20th time for Alabama to host College GameDay.
Per ESPN, Corso has picked Alabama’s headgear a total of 37 times across the Tide’s 48 all-time appearances on the show. Corso is 27-10 when donning Big Al’s headgear, per the network.
