DeVonta Smith on NFL teams being concerned about his size: ‘We’re not bodybuilding; it’s football’

DeVonta Smith put together a season for the ages in 2020, winning the Heisman Trophy while helping Alabama win the national championship.
He’ll be a first round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft this week (Round 1 starts on Thursday night), but how high he goes remains to be seen.
NFL teams are concerned about Smith’s size (or lack thereof, rather). But, on an NFL Network appearance this week, Smith did his best to put those concerns to rest:
"We play football. We in football business. We're not weight lifting. We're not bodybuilding. It's football."@AlabamaFTBL WR @DeVontaSmith_6 isn't concerned about his weight at the next level ? (via @gmfb) pic.twitter.com/9B7wkeXj0f

For teams worried about Smith’s weight, just put on his tape. As Smith says, this is football, not weightlifting.
Smith’s play speaks for itself, so teams should pass on him at their own risk.
