DeVonta Smith has caught his first 2 NFL passes in the Eagles preseason game against the Patriots. Thursday night’s game is Smith’s first preseason game, as he missed the first due to an injury suffered during training camp.

It took 4 pass targets from quarterback Joe Flacco — Jalen Hurts was a late scratch due to an illness — to finally hit Smith for his first NFL catch. It went for 9 yards.

Later in the second quarter, Smith showed off his Heisman-level route running, which put Patriots defensive back Michael Jackson on skates. Smith is going to be a problem for NFL defenses because he creates separation every single play.

As the Patriots went into halftime, Smith had 5 passes thrown his direction, and he caught 2 of them. The other 3 were dropped. Smith recorded 2 catches for 19 yards in the first half.
