Alabama WR Henry Ruggs III has turned into one of the best receivers in college football and could even be a first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

However, one of his best friends from high school — Rod Scott — didn’t get the chance to realize his college dreams, dying in a car accident on the way to a state basketball tournament game.

On Saturday morning’s College GameDay, Tom Rinaldi reported an emotional story about how Ruggs carries Scott’s memory with him during every game:

Ruggs honors his friend by putting three fingers up to the sky when he takes the field and after he scores a touchdown.

Scott probably would have loved to see Ruggs play in an atmosphere like Saturday’s against LSU. He’ll be watching in spirit, though, and Ruggs will start his afternoon with a tribute to his friend.
