Former Alabama OL Ross Pierschbacher has a new NFL home. He was signed to the Detroit Lions’ practice squad Thursday.
Pierschbacher won 2 CFP national championships with Alabama in 2015 and 2017 and was a 3-time All-SEC performer from 2016-18.

Pierschbacher, listed at 6-foot-4, 315 pounds, was a fifth-round pick (153rd overall) by the Washington Redskins/Football Team in the 2019 NFL Draft. He has also played for the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Jets. Pierschbacher opened training camp with the Jets, but he was waived during final roster cuts on Aug. 30.
Alabama recruited Pierschbacher out of Cedar Falls, Iowa. He was the top-ranked prospect in the state and sixth-best offensive tackle of the 2014 class according to 247Sports composite rankings.
