Greg McElroy on Alabama’s struggles: ‘I think other teams have gotten better’
By Adam Spencer

Greg McElroy led the Alabama Crimson Tide to the national championship back in 2010, the early stages of the budding Alabama dynasty under Nick Saban.
The Tide most recently won the title with a dominant effort in 2020, then made it to the title game in 2021 before losing to Georgia.
But, have some other teams closed the talent gap with the Crimson Tide? That’s what Greg McElroy said on “The Paul Finebaum Show” on Tuesday:
“Alabama’s talent gap had been so significant, that even if they came out and played their C-game it wouldn’t matter. Now if they come out and play their C-game, teams can get them. It’s not that Bama has gotten worse. I think other teams have gotten better.” – @GregMcElroy

Alabama narrowly escaped Texas with a win in Week 2. The Tide shouldn’t have much trouble with Louisiana-Monroe in Week 3, but then things get more difficult when SEC play begins.
We’ll see if the Tide can make the Playoff like most analysts and fans expect and if they can win Nick Saban’s seventh title in Tuscaloosa (and eighth overall).
