History favors Alabama in Week 1 matchup against No. 3 Florida State

For the first time since 1986, Week 1 will feature a matchup of top-five teams from the preseason AP Poll.
That game, of course, will happen in Atlanta, where the Alabama Crimson Tide will face off against the Florida State Seminoles in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game.
A top-five matchup has happened three previous times — 1982, 1983 and the aforementioned 1986 — and each time, the No. 1 team has emerged with a win:

Obviously, that bodes well for coach Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide, as they were named the top team in this year’s preseason AP Poll.
