Alabama QB Mac Jones is fresh off a season in which he finished in third place in the Heisman Trophy race. However, he has some work to do to solidify himself as a Round 1 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
In mock drafts, Jones is sometimes listed in Round 1, but at other times, he’s left out of the first 32 picks. Thus, his performance at this week’s Senior Bowl in Mobile is key.
He has been very impressive, drawing rave reviews for his play and his leadership, but on Thursday, he suffered a left ankle injury and said his status for Saturday’s game is up in the air:
UPDATE: Jones said he tweaked his left ankle and there’s “a chance” he won’t play in Saturday’s #SeniorBowl. Needs to get treatment. https://t.co/KIvnoLLTLR

If Jones isn’t fully healthy, it doesn’t make much sense for him to play. It sounds like he’s impressed the NFL coaches in attendance thus far.
However, he’ll have Thursday night and all day Friday to recover, so we’ll see if he decides to give it a go on Saturday or not.
