Ms. Terry said she worked hard on her picks before stepping onto the College GameDay set on Saturday morning in Tuscaloosa — and that work seems to have paid off.
She went 7-2 overall in the 9 games that GameDay picked — the best winning percentage so far this season for a guest picker on the show. But more importantly, she beat her husband Nick Saban by a game.
The couple only had 3 disagreements on the night. Ms. Terry won 2 of them thanks to strong performances from Colorado and Notre Dame. It was nearly a clean sweep for Ms. Terry, but Saban did get one game back thanks to Duke’s 20-point comeback win over North Carolina.
Saban addressed the possibility of losing to his wife on College GameDay on Saturday morning.
“After 52 years, I know if she wins this, it’s going to cost me something,” Saban said.
The difference in the pair’s picks, arguably, was Ms. Terry’s belief in Colorado coach Deion Sanders. During the show, Ms. Terry scolded Saban for picking against the Buffs.
“Against our good friend Deion?” Ms. Terry said after Saban picked UCF. “Really? He texted you this week and said what a great job you were doing. I’ve got your back, Deion. Colorado!”
Ms. Terry correctly picked Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Penn State, Colorado, BYU, Kansas State and Alabama to win on Saturday. Her only misses were Ole Miss and North Carolina.
Ms. Terry will be atop GameDay’s guest picker standings next week, just beating out South Carolina coach Dawn Staley (9-3) on win percentage. GameDay is headed to Cal for the first time ever in Week 6.
