Alabama’s week got started with Nick Saban noting that the “real season” for the Crimson Tide would begin this week in Oxford. Starting conference play on the road in a hostile SEC environment isn’t supposed to be this easy but that’s what a team of Alabama’s caliber is capable of doing to a one-dimensional team like Ole Miss.

If you missed it, the Crimson Tide won 62-7 in Oxford. That final is even more impressive when you take into account Ole Miss scored 11 seconds into the game. While the first punch was landed by the Rebels, it was the only one the team would get on the evening.

Alabama led 49-7 at halftime and was able to pick the final score it desired by the end of the contest. The only potential setback from the game could be the status of Tua Tagovailoa, who appeared to be a bit hindered by the end of the game.

Here are the highlights of what Saban had to say following the game in his postgame presser:

  • I was pleased with how we responded following the opening touchdown by Ole Miss
  • On Tua Tagovailoa: “He’s not injured.”
  • On Tua’s first road start: I thought he played really well. I was really pleased.
  • On how Ole Miss scored: We were in bump and run (defense) and our man got beat.
  • On what this win means: This is one game. It’s one game for us to grow and build on with our players.
