Nick Saban jokes with James Spann about retiring and joining the Weather Channel
By Adam Spencer
Published:
Nick Saban is a noted Weather Channel aficionado and was joined by meteorologist James Spann for his Thursday evening radio show this week.
Spann asked Saban if he ever gets tired of getting asked about retirement, and Saban had a great response.
The legendary Alabama coach said he enjoys the grind of the work week as much as he enjoys the game itself:
Spann asks Saban if he gets tired of being asked about retirement: "I get asked that a lot, especially by recruits and their families. I enjoy the grind of the week and preparing for the game, getting ready for the game just as much as the game itself."

But, if Saban ever does decide to retire? Well, he joked that he’d apply to be Spann’s assistant at the Weather Channel:
Saban to Spann: "I certainly would never wanna ride the program down if I didn't feel like I was doing a good job. If we don't start playing better, I was gonna see if you had openings at your place and be an assistant. I watch The Weather Channel, so I feel like I'm an expert."

Let’s hope we still get a few more years of Saban on college sidelines before he starts chasing hurricanes with his friend Spann!
