As Nick Saban said during the week leading up to this year’s Alabama-LSU game, his teams haven’t been in many “revenge” games. In the college football world, perhaps the biggest draw of watching the 8-0 No. 1 team face a struggling 3-4 unranked opponent was the revenge factor.

Alabama got its revenge with a 55-17 win in Tiger Stadium. Saban described the Crimson Tide’s mission as breaking LSU’s confidence in the rivalry.

“They beat us last year, they probably have some confidence that they can play well against Alabama. So, we’re going to have to change the way they think,” Saban told CBS.

Members of the 2019 LSU squad will probably still have confidence about beating Alabama in Bryant-Denny Stadium, but the newcomers just experienced a one-sided start to the rivalry.
