Last year, Alabama’s most challenging regular-season game came against Ole Miss. While it wasn’t the first Nick Saban vs. Lane Kiffin game, it was the first time they faced off as head coaches since Kiffin’s time in Tuscaloosa as Saban’s offensive coordinator.

In a thoroughly entertaining new feature from ESPN’s Chris Low and Alex Scarborough, Saban humorously recalls how Kiffin took notes of the plays Saban said were hard to defend and used those plays in last year’s 63-48 thriller in Oxford:

“That damn Lane, he said it after they played us last year: ‘Everything I told him for three years, he wrote it down,'” Saban would later say with a smile. “He said after the game, ‘I did every one of those things in the game.’

“He had a whole notepad of s— that I said was a problem to defend when we were together, and he said, ‘I did every one of them.'”

We’ll see if Kiffin has Saban saying “That damn Lane” again on Saturday.
