Nick Saban’s Hey Coach Show on Friday was a special one as Brad Nessler was a guest.

Nessler and Gary Danielson have called SEC games for CBS over the years. Saban talked about the relationship between the Alabama head coach and CBS.

Saban was very grateful to have played on CBS when Mark Ingram was in school because it gave the national audience a look at the Alabama RB, which later helped with Heisman voting.

“We were the first conference to have their own network. Which was huge in building the conference years ago because everybody else had regional games. Mark Ingram might be the first Heisman winner, I can’t verify this for sure, that never really won the Southeast,” said Saban. “He won because we were on CBS and it was national, so everybody saw him play all time. That’s a tribute to CBS, their relationship with the SEC, and giving us a national network.

Lastly, Saban stated that Nessler and CBS are always welcome back in Tuscaloosa, thanking them for their time with the SEC.

“I think it helped build the brand of our conference and a lot of other schools in the conference. I hate it that we’re not gonna continue this relationship, but you’re always welcome here it’s been a great one. We appreciate that more than you know.”

Nessler and Danielson will be calling games for the B1G on CBS next season.
