Alabama redshirt freshman outside linebacker Kevin Harris is leaving the program and entering the transfer portal, according to AL.com reporter Matt Zenitz.

Harris departs Alabama without playing any snaps.

Harris was a 4-star recruit from Loganville, GA. Harris was ranked by 247Sports Composite as the No. 5 WDE in the nation and No. 15 player in Georgia in the Class of 2019.

The 6-foot-4, 228-pound Harris, who was selected for the Under Armour All-America Game, chose Alabama over offers from Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, Mississippi State, South Carolina and Tennessee.

This was 247Sports’ evaluation of Harris coming out of high school:

“Thin edge rusher with good length and a lean frame,” 247Sports director of scouting wrote in his evaluation of Harris as a recruit. “Good speed with above average combine testing. Most comfortable as a stand-up edge defender. Good get-off and edge speed. Extremely active and quick with hand usage. Has shown the ability to convert speed to power but much more comfortable as a speed rusher. Linear athlete that plays hard. Can impact the game with flash plays. Not overly versatile yet. Still needs to add strength to become a more complete player. High level Power 5 player with early to mid round NFL Draft potential.”

No. 1 Alabama’s game this week against LSU has been cancelled due to a COVID-19 outbreak at LSU. Alabama’s next contest is against visiting Kentucky on Nov. 21 (4 p.m. EST/SEC Network).
