The best cornerback prospect in the nation just spurned DBU.

During a signing ceremony at his American Heritage High School, five-star defensive back Patrick Surtain Jr. announced his decision to attend Alabama over LSU. Rated as the No. 1 cornerback in the nation for 2018 by 247Sports Composite Rankings, the south Florida native has drawn comparisons to former LSU great Patrick Peterson.

Believed to be a long-time LSU lean, Surtain had been receiving the full court press from Alabama in recent weeks. Adding that information to the fact his father, former NFL DB Patrick Surtain, landed an interview to join Nick Saban’s staff in Tuscaloosa, it’s not a total shock that Surtain has picked the Tide over the Tigers.

Surtain becomes the second five-star prospect to commit to the Tide in the 2018 recruiting cycle. While it’s still early, Alabama is the first big winner of National Signing Day following this news.

Here’s a look at his some of his amazing high school highlights.
