Former Alabama wide receiver Slade Bolden signed as an undrafted free agent with the Baltimore Ravens this past spring. However, after suffering an undisclosed injury during training camp, he was ultimately waived on Tuesday as the Ravens trimmed their roster to the NFL-mandated 80-man limit.

Shortly after the Ravens announced the news, Bolden took to Twitter to provide an update on the specifics of the injury. As it turns out, he has suffered a sports hernia and will need surgery.

“Unfortunately, I have been diagnosed with a sports hernia that requires surgery this week,” he wrote. “With that being said, I’m ready to attack this process and get back on that field better than ever! Just a minor set back and I know the Lord still has a great plan for me. Joshua 1:9”

Bolden totaled 68 catches, 712 yards, and 4 touchdowns during 3 seasons with the Crimson Tide. As a junior, he recorded career highs in receptions (42) and yards (408) while hauling in 3 touchdown catches.

His best performance in an Alabama uniform came on Oct. 24, 2020, when he made 6 catches for 94 yards against Tennessee.
