Social media calling out Kirk Herbstreit for ESPN broadcast of national title game
By Adam Spencer
Published:
Monday night’s broadcast of the College Football Playoff National Championship Game between Alabama and Ohio State is an interesting one for ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit.
Herbstreit notably played at Ohio State and 1 of his sons just committed to the Buckeyes. But, as many Big Ten fans tell you (or yell at you about), there’s a perceived SEC bias from ESPN.
So, it was always going to be a long night when it comes to reaction to Herbstreit’s broadcast. As you can see below, fans had plenty to say about the analyst’s first-half performance (some fair, some simply a way for frustrated fans to vent):
Watch SEC Network. Eli and JPW radio feed. Can’t listen to Herbstreit and Fowler

#CFPNationalChampionship Herbstreit's doing a GREAT job of not getting excited whenever his wet dream Ohio State makes a good play. pic.twitter.com/bSDGb6E31U

How happy was Herbstreit after that osu stop?

OSU could be playing the Chiefs tonight and Kirk Herbstreit will tell you how elite OSU is.

Kirk Herbstreit is the absolute worst announcer to listen to. If this SEC deal includes more of him on our UGA games…..consider it a crime against Dawg Nation.
Also Pollack better be making a bajillion $’s to do those terrible AT&T commercials with Sunshine Scooter. pic.twitter.com/G4bJxwPH49

Drink every time Herbstreit mentions Steve Sarkisian

Reallly? Herbstreit? Good thing Ohio let them score? I don’t think they “let them score” so much as your beloved Buckeyes were scored upon. Oh, and Bama is getting the ball back after a three and out so your let them score spin is BS.

Kirk Herbstreit just said it was good that Ohio State "let" Alabama score. Ahhhh, ok. Is the implication that Ohio State COULD have stopped them and elected not to? Don't think so….

You’ll notice Herbstreit is catching heat from both Alabama and Ohio State fans, so that usually means he’s doing a good job of being unbiased.
We’ll see how the second half goes, but we’re sure he’ll continue to be talked about on social media.
