Sweet deal: Alabama BBQ restaurant offering free dessert with mention of Crimson Tide defender
One of Birmingham’s top bbq restaurants is offering a sweet deal for fans who mention Alabama defensive player DJ Dale’s name.
Saw’s, which is one of the top bbq joints in the city, named Dale its student-athlete of the week. And if fans mention his name Saturday, they can receive a free small banana pudding with a purchase of an entree.

Free banana pudding if you mention Alabama defensive lineman DJ Dale at Saw’s BBQ. One of the best uses of NIL I’ve seen. We all win. https://t.co/PdD26Lhgjy

The promotion was also a sweet way to announce that Dale has signed a NIL with the popular restaurant. No word yet on what kind of compensation Dale will receive from this deal.
Saw’s was started by North Carolina native Mike Wilson who opened his business in 2009. Besides banana pudding, the restaurant serves North Carolina-style bbq and has several locations. Wilson and his partners also opened a soul food restaurant as well.
Men’s Journal proclaimed Saw’s as “The best bbq in America.”
Fans who are in the Birmingham area can find out why.
