What a game Clemson and Alabama just put on to cap the 2016 college football season.
Hard to imagine this Crimson Tide defense would give up a touchdown drive with the national title on the line but that’s exactly what happened Monday night in the 35-31 stunner.
Immediately after the game, Twitter was abuzz following one of the best title games in college football history.

The final score of the game was registered by Clemson receiver Hunter Renfrow. Amazingly, Renfrow never came off the field for the Tigers:
Hunter Renfrow played every snap of the game. Was getting fluids on the sideline.

I've covered 18 national title games. This was the best.

Dabo Swinney took the opportunity to praise his quarterback after the Clemson leader was passed on by the Downtown Athletic Club twice in two years:
Dabo on #Clemson great Deshaun Watson: "He didn't lose out on the Heisman. The Heisman lost out on him..This was his Heisman tonight."

If you know Dabo well, you could have seen that final play call coming:
I took this picture in Dabo's office. Dwight Clark diagramed the "The Catch" for him on a football. Does the route look familiar? Wow. pic.twitter.com/uC3HYF9ryw

In fact, Alabama fans themselves should have recognized Clemson’s game-winning play:
Clemson's game-winning TD vs #Bama? It's a similar pick/rub play the Tide used to beat #LSU in OT in 2014. pic.twitter.com/Lwk5vkPyUL

On last Clemson play, why not just tackle all of Clemson’s receivers at snap and force them to kick field goal on untimed play?

Time to give Dabo his due as one of college football’s elite coaches:
Dabo is 5-1 the last two seasons vs. Saban, Meyer, Fisher and Stoops. Those are the five active FBS coaches with national titles.

Congratulations to Dabo and @ClemsonFB. Deserved to win. Well done!

While we went out on a high note, unfortunately, college football will be going away for far too long.
College football, I'll love you forever.
