Everything in football can change in an instant. It has for Arkansas in 2018 and, specifically, wide receiver Jonathan Nance.
One season after leading the Razorbacks in receiving, Nance announced early Monday morning his plans to redshirt this season and then transfer schools in December.
“I want to thank Arkansas and my coaches for giving me an opportunity to compete on this level,” he wrote on Twitter. “It has been a great ride and have made life long friends that I will never take for granted. Unfortunately, I will use this year as my redshirt year and transfer in December to fulfill my dream to play football.”

Nance finished 2017 with 37 receptions, 539 receiving yards and five touchdowns. He was, by far, the team’s biggest deep threat, posting nine catches for 20-plus yards, but under new coach Chad Morris, Nance has become an afterthought. Through four games, he has one catch for minus-2 yards.
Interestingly, this will be Nance’s third time transferring during his college career. He committed to Southern Mississippi out of high school but transferred to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College shortly thereafter. He came to Arkansas as a junior before last season.
