The Detroit Lions were relatively quiet during Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline, but they did make one roster move that affected a former SEC player.
The team signed free agent G Don Barclay, and to make room for the new player, cut ties with former Arkansas OL Dan Skipper.
According to a tweet sent out by the team, the waiving of Skipper was made official on Tuesday afternoon:

Skipper had only recently signed with the Lions, but the team feels it would be better to go with the veteran option in Barclay.
So, Skipper’s Detroit career is done after only 15 plays, five of which were on special teams:

However, his time in Detroit may not be done just yet, as there’s a chance Skipper could be heading to the Lions’ practice squad in the coming days:

It’ll be interesting to see what happens in the coming days, but for now, Skipper is actively looking for a new team.
